MEMBERS OF LIBRARY BOARD. Letter, June 22, 1970, to Mr. Kenneth V. Moses, Attorney, Marysville, Kansas.
We are not aware of any statutory provision which would authorize members of a city governing body to be members of a library board contrary to K.S.A. 12-1222.
That statute is part of a comprehensive municipal library act enacted as chapter 485 of the laws of 1951. Section 2 of the act, K.S.A. 12-1219, specifically provides that "any library heretofore established and being maintained by a municipality shall be maintained in accordance with the provisions of this act. . . ."
